From the illumination of the sea to the High Mountain

Den Burg is the “capital” of the island. And Just Texel is so central in the village that you can visit everything on foot. Within 50 meters you can relax on a sunny terrace and enter the shopping heart of Den Burg. Grab a coffee or a sandwich, shop for a new summer dress, winter coat or a gift for home. Den Burg has so many nice unique stores to browse around in.
Or walk out of the center in the opposite direction and stroll along the green lanes of “de Hoge Berg” (high mountain, yes yes 15 meters high). After a few hundred meters you already imagine yourself in a different environment.
Biking to the beach
Biking to the beach: why do it any other way? You can reserve a bike through our website and pick it up around the corner at Van de Linde bike rental. They will check together if you have the right size, and your saddle is in the right position. And if you have a flat tire there is the bike breakdown service. How about cycling behind the Wadden dike or the farmer's route through the meadows? Pedaling through the forest, with a stop at a beach pavilion towards the Muy and the Slufter? Or with an electric bike up to the lighthouse and climb it?
And what is so nice, from all sides the route back is not so far. After all, your suite or apartment in Just Texel is very centrally located.

Northern lights and sea sparkle
In the summer months you can sometimes see the “illumiation of the sea” at night after a warm day. That's what we used to call it ourselves, nowadays also called sea spark. It is very magical how the waves light up and the sand sparkles around your feet.
We have also been able to see the Northern Lights several times, both photographically and with the naked eye. Very special and because we have almost no light pollution on Texel you can easily observe this phenomenon for example along the Waddendijk.
